Remote staffing built for construction companies

About Helping Companies

Remote staffing for construction, built by people with 30 years in the industry.

Helping Companies finds, screens and places qualified remote professionals inside construction companies across the United States. We run the recruiting, the evaluation, the hiring and the onboarding, so what reaches you is a working team member rather than a stack of applications.

Construction industry experience behind the founders of the company

Usual outside limit for having that shortlist ready to interview

The company started from a hiring problem we lived through.

Helping Companies was founded by professionals with more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. That time was spent inside the business, which is where the problem became obvious: qualified estimators, coordinators, accountants and drafters are hard to find, expensive to hire and difficult to keep.

Every contractor we knew was solving it the same way. Stretch the people already there, turn down work the office could not process, or pay well above market for a local hire who might leave within the year.

Helping Companies exists to open a different option: connect construction businesses in the United States with qualified remote professionals who can join their teams, carry real operational work and stay for the long term.

Two kinds of expertise, working on the same hire.

Knowing construction is not the same as knowing how to recruit, and a hire goes wrong when either side is missing. Helping Companies runs on both.

The Construction Side

Founders who have run construction work.

More than 30 years of experience in the construction industry

First-hand understanding of what contractors face when they try to hire

Role definitions written around how construction work actually moves

Judgment about which positions can genuinely be handled from outside the office

Who you will actually be working with.

Helping Companies is run by people you can name and reach. Johanna leads the company and defines how a role is built. Angie runs the recruiting for the position you open.

Johanna Zuluaga, Founder and CEO of Helping Companies, remote staffing for construction.

Johanna Zuluaga

Founder & CEO

Johanna founded Helping Companies with a clear vision: to help construction companies grow without the search for the right talent becoming an obstacle. Understanding the challenges contractors face behind every project, she created HCO to connect them with specialized professionals who can become a true extension of their teams. For Johanna, it is not simply about filling a position; it is about building teams that allow business owners to focus on what they do best: building, growing, and taking their companies further.

Angie Ramirez

Human Resources Manager

For Angie, recruiting has never been simply about filling a position. It is about understanding that behind every hire is a person looking for an opportunity and a construction company trusting someone to become part of its growth. With experience recruiting estimators, project coordinators, administrative and accounting professionals, and other specialized talent within the industry, Angie is committed to finding more than a strong résumé: she looks for people who can become a valuable part of the team. At Helping Companies, her greatest satisfaction comes from seeing how the right connection can change a professional’s path while helping a company build something bigger.

In the industry

We stay close to the industry we recruit for. Understanding how a construction company actually runs is what separates a strong résumé from the right hire, and it is the reason a role we define looks different from a generic job posting.

A remote staffing partner, not a virtual assistant subscription.

A virtual assistant service sells hours from a general pool. We run a search for a specific position in a specific company, which means technical, administrative, financial and operational profiles with experience relevant to construction, selected against requirements you approve before recruiting starts.

What we take off your desk.

Expanding a team is a project in itself. Sourcing, filtering, interviewing, negotiating and onboarding all cost time that construction companies rarely have spare. That work is ours.

Searching and recruiting for the position you define

Pre-screening and initial evaluation of every candidate

Interviews and shortlisting before anything reaches your desk

Coordinating your interviews and the selection decision

Handling the hiring process for the professional you choose

Onboarding support while the role is being integrated into your team

Ongoing follow-up with both sides once the role is running

Part time or full time

Professionals can be engaged part time or full time depending on what the work actually requires. The schedule is decided while the role is being defined, not afterwards.

Roles We Place

The positions construction companies ask us to fill.

These are the roles we recruit for most often across estimating, project delivery, design, accounting and administration. If the position you need is not on this list, we run a custom search against your requirements.

Where we work.

Helping Companies provides remote staffing to construction companies and contractors located in the United States. Our operation is concentrated in Eastern Time, which is where we hold the most availability and where schedules are easiest to coordinate.

We also work with companies in Central, Mountain and Pacific Time. In those cases we check the availability of the professional against your hours before presenting anyone, so the overlap is agreed rather than assumed. Because the model is remote, where your office sits is not a limit on who we can serve.

Eastern Time: primary coverage and the widest availability

Central Time: supported, with availability confirmed per role

Mountain Time: supported, with availability confirmed per role

Pacific Time: supported, with availability confirmed per role

Giving back is part of how the company is built.

Helping Companies was founded on faith, compassion and service. Helping Others is the program that puts those values into practice: for every part time or full time professional we place, we sponsor a child through Compassion International, and the client becomes that child's correspondent.

One child sponsored for every part time or full time placement

Education, healthcare, and emotional and spiritual guidance

Funded by Helping Companies, at no cost to the client

Who founded Helping Companies?

Helping Companies was founded by professionals with more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. That background is why the company recruits against construction roles rather than generic job descriptions, and it works alongside a professional human resources team that handles recruitment, selection and talent management.

Is Helping Companies a virtual assistant service?

No. A virtual assistant service provides general support hours from a shared pool. Helping Companies runs a dedicated search for a specific position in your company, covering technical, administrative, financial and operational profiles with experience relevant to construction, and manages recruiting, selection, hiring and onboarding for that role.

What part of the United States do you serve?

We work with construction companies and contractors across the United States. Coverage is concentrated in Eastern Time, where availability is widest, and we also support companies in Central, Mountain and Pacific Time after confirming that the professional can cover the hours the role requires.

Can a remote professional work part time?

Yes. Professionals can be hired part time or full time depending on the operational needs of your company. The schedule is agreed while the role is being defined.

What happens after someone is hired?

Helping Companies continues supporting both the client and the professional after the hire, following up during onboarding and through the working relationship. The intent is a long-term team member, not a placement that ends at the start date.

One consultation is enough to define the role, agree the requirements and start the search. Most companies have a shortlist to interview inside two weeks.
